Position Description: As the Senior Manager for Data Center Storage Engineering, you will lead the development, optimization, and integration of advanced storage solutions, including object, file, and block storage, as well as SAN technologies. This role involves collaboration with senior leadership, IT teams, and external partners to drive innovation and ensure alignment with company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the SDS strategy for scalable, secure, and cost-effective storage infrastructure.
- Mentor and lead a team of SDS engineers and specialists.
- Oversee the design and implementation of ‘Storage as a Service’ solutions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to implement storage solutions based on organizational needs.
- Monitor KPIs for storage solutions, ensuring performance and compliance.
- Negotiate with vendors and build strategic relationships.
- Stay updated on industry trends and assess new technologies.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of software and system design, and cloud computing technologies.
- Expertise in various storage architectures (object, block, file storage).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and software-defined storage (Ceph, MinIO, OpenStack).
- Proficiency with cloud services and traditional storage technologies.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl).
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of open-source technologies and data center hardware.
- Experience with orchestration tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Strategic thinking and risk management skills.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years in the tech industry, with 5+ years leading enterprise-wide storage strategies.
- 5+ years managing complex storage solutions, including SAN and SDS.
- 5+ years designing and maintaining high-availability storage systems.
- 5+ years implementing and managing object, block, and file storage solutions.
- Experience with data migration projects and disaster recovery operations.
- 5+ years in a storage engineering role, focusing on software-defined storage in cloud environments.
- Experience with systems architecture and design.
- 6+ years coding experience (C/C++, Bash, Python, Go).
Desired Experience:
- 5+ years in large-scale, mission-critical environments.
- Experience supervising technical personnel.
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
- Experience in modern software development methodologies.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, MBA, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in project management (PMP), IT service management (ITIL), or specific storage technologies are highly favorable
