Role: Storage Architect – Migration and Transformation for On-Prem DC
Remote (80% – 90%) | Occasional Travel

Overview: The Storage Architect will design, plan, and execute the migration and transformation of storage solutions within on-premises data centers. This role requires expertise in storage technologies, data migration strategies, and data center operations. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of managing complex storage projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The migration involves transitioning from 3PAR to NetApp for block storage in Germany and upgrading NetApps at three sites (U.S., Singapore, Germany). The process follows a PMO framework: design/planning → execution/build → migration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement storage solutions for data center migration and transformation.
- Develop and execute migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Assess storage infrastructure and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with IT, network, and security teams to align with data center strategy.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the migration process.
- Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning.
- Maintain documentation, including architecture diagrams and migration plans.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in storage architecture, data migration, and data center operations.
- Expertise in SAN, NAS, DAS, and cloud storage solutions.
- Strong understanding of block and file migration tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of VMware/VCX is critical, as Storage vMotion will be used extensively.
- Experience with storage performance analysis and capacity planning.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., EMC, NetApp, HPE) are a plus.
Key Skills:
- Solution design and architecture with strong documentation skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., EMC, NetApp, HPE) and experience with VMware, Hyper-V.
- Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Remote & Travel:
- 80-90% remote with occasional travel for internal meetings or client workshops.
- Travel may be to the U.S., Singapore, or Germany.
