Role: SAP BASIS Specialist
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – Tuesday Onsite)
Duration: 6+ months
Pay Rate: $90 to $100
Overview: The Client is seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Specialist to provide technical administration and architecture design support for enterprise SAP platforms. The selected resource will support a complex SAP landscape and ensure system stability, scalability, performance, and reliability across the enterprise environment. The role will involve installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, system refreshes, and ongoing maintenance of SAP platforms. The consultant will collaborate with infrastructure, security, development, and business teams to support and optimize the SAP ecosystem. Supported environments include: SAP ECC, SAP CRM, SAP BW/BI, SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), SAP Process Orchestration (PO), SAP Web Dispatcher, SAP Fiori / Gateway, SAP S/4HANA, SAP C/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP BTP, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP SAC, SAP Datasphere, SAP BDC
Key Responsibilities:
SAP BASIS Administration
- Serve as the primary SAP BASIS administrator for major enterprise SAP applications.
- Provide secondary administration support for additional enterprise platforms.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SAP systems and related components.
- Manage SAP system refreshes, patching, and upgrades across environments.
- Configure and maintain SAP technical architecture according to organizational standards.
System Operations & Support
- Provide 24/7 on-call and after-hours support when required.
- Troubleshoot system outages, performance issues, and technical incidents.
- Monitor system health and ensure application availability in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Coordinate backups, restorations, and disaster recovery processes.
System Maintenance & Performance
- Perform OS, database, application, and client tool patching and migrations.
- Conduct system sizing, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Configure and manage batch jobs and scripts, resolving related errors.
Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Work closely with analysts, infrastructure teams, and application owners to resolve technical issues.
- Act as a vendor liaison for bug fixes, licensing, and maintenance support.
- Coordinate with security, network, operations, and development teams to support SAP environments.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain documentation for:
- SAP architecture
- Backup and recovery procedures
- System inventories
- User administration
- Automate administrative processes and streamline operational tasks.
- Support user training and provide technical guidance when needed.
Disaster Recovery & Security
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Maintain fault tolerance and disaster recovery strategies for SAP systems.
- Manage SAP application security and user administration.
Mandatory Requirements:
SAP BASIS Experience
- 5+ years of SAP BASIS experience supporting SAP ABAP and Java systems.
- 3+ years of experience supporting SAP cloud and modern SAP platforms, including: S/4HANA, C/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Fiori / UI5, SAP HANA
Implementation Experience
- Experience supporting at least two major SAP implementations or upgrade projects, including: S/4HANA migration, Selective Data Transition, SAP RISE support
Technical Environment
- Experience administering SAP environments including: SAP ECC6, S/4HANA, BW/BI, CRM, BOBJ, PO, BPC, HANA, C/4HANA, SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, Cloud Connector, Fiori/Gateway, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP BDC, SAP Datasphere, SAP Solution Manager
Systems Administration
- Experience working with operating systems such as: UNIX, Linux, Windows, AIX
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to provide remote on-call support outside regular working hours, including nights and weekends.
- Experience with enterprise application administration, including installation, setup, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible IT experience supporting enterprise applications with SAP BASIS.
Desired Qualifications:
- SAP certifications related to SAP BASIS, S/4HANA, or cloud platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
- Strong experience with SAP cloud offerings and hyperscalers.
- Advanced use of SAP Solution Manager for monitoring and project documentation.
- Experience with SAP system refresh tools such as: SAP LaMa (Landscape Management), SAP PCA
- Administration experience for NetWeaver Java environments, including: NWDI, Enterprise Portal, Adobe Document Services, Process Orchestration, Web Dispatcher, System Landscape Directory (SLD)
- Experience with SAP Change Management, including: CTS+, Non-ABAP transports, Cloud-based transports
- SAP administration in DB2/AIX and RHEL environments.
