Role: Data Governance Consultant (Execution Focus)
Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract (3–6 Months)
Pay Rate: $60 to $70
Overview: We are seeking a Data Governance Consultant to support the execution of an established data governance strategy. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and responsible for implementing governance frameworks, policies, and tools across the organization to ensure data quality, compliance, and usability.
Key Responsibilities:
Execution/Functional
- Implement and operationalize the existing data governance framework and policies
- Work with business and IT teams to enforce data standards, definitions, and ownership (data stewardship)
- Establish and maintain data quality rules, metrics, and monitoring processes
- Drive adoption of data governance practices across departments
- Support data classification, lineage, and metadata management initiatives
Technical/Tools
- Configure and support data governance and catalogue tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.)
- Implement data lineage and metadata management solutions
- Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure governance is embedded in pipelines
- Support data access controls and compliance requirements
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5–8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality
- Proven experience in executing data governance programs (not just strategy)
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.)
- Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship concepts
- Ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Public Sector/Government environments
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
