Role: CalSAWS SME – Training & Advisory
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $60 to $70
Overview: We are seeking a CalSAWS Subject Matter Expert (SME) with recent hands-on production experience to support a county-wide training initiative.
This role combines functional expertise and training delivery, supporting 150–200 eligibility workers through a phased approach:
- Discovery & gap assessment
- Training development & in-person delivery
- Post-training sustainability and support
The SME will focus on improving system adoption, aligning workflows, and enabling long-term operational stability.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Recent hands-on experience with CalSAWS (production environment)
- Background as an Eligibility Worker, SME, or implementation/support resource
- Strong understanding of:
- Eligibility determination workflows
- Case lifecycle management
- Inter-county transfers
- Time-on-aid and exemption logic
- Ability to deliver training or guide operational staff (formal training experience not mandatory)
- Experience working with one or more programs:
- CalFresh
- Medi-Cal
- CalWORKs
- GA/GR, Foster Care, RCA
- Strong communication and stakeholder interaction skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CalSAWS implementation, conversion, or stabilization
- Exposure to CalWIN or legacy systems
- Experience working with system integrators (e.g., Deloitte, Accenture)
- Prior experience in county/public sector environments
- Experience creating training materials or job aids
