Role: DevOps Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA or Carson City, NV – Onsite only
Duration: 6+ months
Pay Rate: $70 to $80
Overview: We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer contractor. This role is critical for maintaining and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and overall security posture. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, strong Python scripting skills, and deep expertise in DevSecOps practices, with a primary focus on Azure cloud environments and secondary exposure to AWS.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for application deployments using Azure DevOps or similar tools
- Develop, maintain, and automate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform in Azure environments
- Apply DevSecOps principles to integrate security throughout the development lifecycle
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to enhance cloud infrastructure and deployment processes
- Ensure cloud environment security by implementing Azure security best practices (RBAC, Key Vault, NSGs, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and CI/CD issues
- Maintain documentation for deployment processes, cloud architecture, and operational procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in Terraform and Python scripting
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, preferably Azure DevOps Pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI also acceptable)
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform (primary requirement)
- Working knowledge of AWS as a secondary cloud platform
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and implementation
- Experience with Azure security best practices (RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault, network security)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, preferably AKS)
- Ability to work onsite in Santa Clara, CA or Carson City, NV
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Skills
- Azure certifications (Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Security Engineer)
- AWS certifications (nice to have)
- Experience integrating security scanning tools in CI/CD pipelines (SAST, DAST)
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, ELK)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (Azure + AWS)
- Experience implementing blue-green or canary deployments
