Role: Health Services Information Technology Supervisor
Location: Martinez, CA, Hybrid (Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday weekly)
Duration: 6 Months Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $60 to $65
Overview: Under general direction, the Health Services Information Technology Supervisor oversees multiple Epic Inpatient IT teams, providing both people leadership and technical oversight. This role is best suited for a technologist who has transitioned into management or served as a team lead, bringing hands-on Epic knowledge along with strong supervisory capability. The supervisor will lead, coach, and support teams responsible for Epic Inpatient modules, ensure operational stability, and partner closely with leadership, clinicians, and vendors. While the role is not deeply hands-on, technical competence and Epic certification are essential to effectively guide teams and make informed decisions.
Key Focus Areas (Manager Emphasis):
- Strong people manager with Epic certification
- Oversees multiple Epic Inpatient IT teams
- Background as a technologist turned manager or lead
- Collaborative, positive leadership style with technical credibility
- Supervises approximately 10–12 staff members
- Direct reporting relationship to IT Manager
Core Responsibilities:
People Leadership & Supervision (Primary)
- Supervise, mentor, and lead ~10–12 IT staff across multiple Epic Inpatient teams
- Assign, prioritize, and review work across inpatient application support and enhancements
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable team culture
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex system or staffing issues
Epic Inpatient Systems Oversight
- Provide leadership and oversight for Epic Inpatient-focused modules, including:
- Willow (Inpatient Pharmacy)
- Beaker (CP / AP)
- Radiant
- Clinical Documentation (Clin Doc)
- Orders
- OpTime / Anesthesia
- ASAP (preferred/plus)
- Ensure teams are aligned with Epic best practices, workflows, and compliance standards
- Partner with clinical and operational stakeholders to support inpatient care delivery
Technical & Operational Oversight
- Guide teams through SDLC activities: requirements, testing, go-lives, upgrades, and support
- Review and approve technical approaches, configurations, and support strategies
- Ensure proper documentation, change management, and audit readiness
- Serve as a knowledgeable decision-maker without requiring daily hands-on build work
Project, Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Lead or oversee inpatient Epic projects, enhancements, and optimizations
- Coordinate with Epic, vendors, and internal partners
- Manage timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation
- Communicate clearly with leadership, clinicians, and business users
Required Qualifications:
- Epic Certification (Required) — Inpatient-focused
- Strong people management experience overseeing technical teams
- Prior experience as a technologist, Epic analyst, or team lead before moving into management
- Minimum 3+ years in an IT Supervisor, Manager, or Lead role
- At least 2+ years of healthcare IT experience, preferably inpatient
- Proven ability to balance technical competence with people leadership
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/certifications
